Order of long-lead items for Type 26 Batch 2 underway
Industry has begun ordering long-lead items for the planned second batch of the Type 26 Global Combat Ship programme, which is expected to see five additional frigates join the initial contract for three platforms issued in 2017.
The contract award for the build of hulls four to eight has yet to be awarded, although financial approval was given to industry in Q3 2020 to progressively begin placing on order long-lead items for the Batch 2 Type 26 frigates.
