Likely bidders break cover on UK Harpoon replacement
Several vendors have confirmed their participation in the UK programme to replace the Royal Navy’s (RN’s) Harpoon 1C anti-ship missile (ASM) system.
Known as the Interim Surface to Surface Guided Weapon System (I-SSGW), it was not mentioned in the latest MoD Defence Equipment Plan, but ministry sources told Shephard that the programme ‘is in the early stage of the procurement process’ and that responses received from industry ‘are being assessed’.
An invitation to negotiation through a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) was released in August 2019. The system must have a land attack capability and be canister-launched to fit on Type
